Valeriana Officinalis(Mother Tincture)

Tincture of the fresh root.

Common Name: Valerian, Valeriana

Causes & Symptoms for Valeriana Officinalis 

• It is indicated in the incurable cases of moral disturbances, passing from one extreme of emotion to another, from the highest joy to the deepest grief.
• Valerian is useful in the recovery of patients after nervous complaints.
• Spasms in abdomen, generally in evening, in bed, or after dinner.
• Eruption of small, hard nodosities on chest.
• It is useful in worm infection specially the ascarides in the rectum.

Mind and Head 

• Valeriana relieves the sinking of the vital forces accompanied by a painful craving for stimulants, to the greatest liveliness and extravagance.
• Nervous irritation, cannot keep still, tearings, cramps, better morning.
• It is useful in congestion of the head. Headache, which appears suddenly or in jerks.
• Headache, worse in evening, when at rest, and in the open air, better from movement in the room indicates Valerian.

Eyes, ear

• Pressure, burning sensation, and smarting in eyes as from smoke, morning after rising, with soreness and swelling of lids.
• Tinkling and ringing in the ears with pain is relieved with Valerian which is affected by cold air.

Mouth and Throat

• Redness and heat of cheeks in open air, Twitching of muscles of face is relieved with Valerian.
• White blisters on tongue and upper lip aggravated by touch.

Stomach and abdomen

• Nausea begins in umbilical region, rising into pharynx, Vomiting of bile and of mucus, with violent shivering and shaking.
• Voracious hunger with nausea and weak stomach and digestion indicates Valerian.
• Powerful sensation of expansion in abdomen, digging pains in abdomen.

Stool and Anus

• Discharge of blood from anus, useful in worms infections, ascarides from rectum.
• Painful boring in rectum with loose evacuations indicates Valerian.

Urinary complaints

• During urination much straining with Profuse and frequent emission of urine

Male complaints

• Pain in the region of the loins as from a chill or a strain.

Female complaints

• Valerian is useful in too late and scanty menses.

Extremities

• Valerian relieves the painful affection of heel, constant pain in heels. with violent stitch in knee.
• Pulsative tearing in right calf when sitting, crampy tearing in outer side of thigh, extending into hip.
• Great heaviness and lassitude in legs, but especially in calves. Tearing pains in the soles of the feet and in the toes is relieved with Valerian.
• Trembling of hands when writing, hard nodosities on arms are resolved with Valerian.

Generalities

• Valerian is indicated in darting, tearing pains which come and go. sleeplessness before midnight
• Better from moving, from walking, worse on stooping, after moving and being at rest, while resting, standing.
• Drawing and jerking in limbs, as if in bones. Painful weariness, especially in lower extremities, after rising in morning.
• Over-sensitiveness of all senses.
• The pain are worse towards evening and during rest, especially after previous motion, while sitting and standing

Side effects of Valeriana Officinalis 

• There are no such side effects. But every medicine should be taken following the rules as given.
• It is safe to take the medicine even if you are on other mode of medication like allopathy medicines, ayurvedic etc.

Dosage and rules while taking Valeriana Officinalis

• Take 10 drops in half cup of water three times a day.
